InHANSE Swimmer
1 June 2017
A group of three BAOMS trainee surgeons are going to perform gruelling feats of endurance during a three-day ironman triathlon challenge to raise money for the Norman Rowe International Educational Foundation (NRIEF). The intrepid trio – Jim Higginson, Anand Kumar and fundraising leader Cristina Frezzini - will each do one of the legs of the challenge on the Welsh mountains on the weekend of 7 to 9 July 2017.
Most recently NRIEF's ongoing missions have supported the restoration and development of the health and surgical care system of Nepal, devastated in the disastrous earthquake of 2015. Our group of three trainees are set to raise funds to sustain upcoming missions.
NRIEF is a sub-committee of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) set up to support developing and post-conflict countries with international educational and humanitarian missions.
Jim who is currently an Academic Clinical Fellow based at InHANSE will be completing the swimming part of the triathlon, swimming 3.8 km in open water. Jim has been training hard for this feat and we wish him luck.
