Professor Mehanna gives Sullivan Lecture

Professor Mehanna was recently the Sullivan Lecturer at the 17th Wharton - Elia Annual Symposium run by the Princess Margaret Hospital and the University of Toronto.

As part of a full programme, Professor Mehanna delivered the Sullivan Lecturer on Lessons Learnt from Running Surgical Multi-Centre Clinical Randomised Trials.  The Wharton Lecturer was Professor Anne Lee from China and she gave a lecturer on Nasopharyngeal Cancer - Global Pattern and Lessons Learned from Hong Kong.  Professor Bob Ferris from Pittsburgh gave the Elia Lecture on the Role of Immunotherapy in Head and Neck Cancer. 

The day was interspersed with lectures from the Toronto Faculty on several of the research programmes that they are currently undertaking. 

The Wharton, Elia and Sullivan family have jointly donated over C$50,000,000 to underpin head and neck clinical care and research at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto.  Their contributions have had considerable effect on improving clinical care and delivering high quality research to the Toronto population and beyond.
