What Do I Do:
I am a new senior clinical lecturer and I will be responsible for running early phase trials, with an aim to integrate biomarker and translational research. I read medicine at Barts and The London School of Medicine in London and undertook clinical oncology training at Barts and The Royal Marsden Hospitals. I did a PhD in biochemistry and molecular medicine at CRUK London Research Institute Lincoln’s Inn Laboratories and University College London. Prior to coming to Birmingham, I was a clinician scientist and junior group leader at the University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, investigating biomarkers and resistance mechanisms of ErbB inhibitors in relation to breast and head and neck cancer. We used a multidisciplinary approach in our research and conduct translational research based on two-way approach: to bring clinical questions to bench research and translate bench findings to clinical trials. I hope to use the same research ethos and strategies to conduct clinical and translational research here.
